Exceso de velocidad es un término que se utiliza en la industria cuando un turbo opera muy por encima de sus límites de funcionamiento normales.
¿Cuáles son las posibles causas del exceso de velocidad?
-Las modificaciones al motor tales como alteraciones a la centralita o la sobre inyección de combustible.
-Flujo de aire inconsistente en el turbo – esto puede ser causado por un desgarre en la manguera de aire o su completo desprendimiento, también puede ocurrir por restricciones en el filtro de aire o mangueras.
-Una instalación incorrecta del mecanismo VNT o de la válvula de descarga.
-Desgaste en los inyectores.
-Instalación de un modelo de turbo incorrecto.
-Una pérdida de señal al SREA (Válvula electrónica rotativa simple) para el accionamiento de la válvula de descarga o el control VNT.
-Funcionamiento en altitud.
Efectos visuales del exceso de velocidad:
-El efecto “piel de naranja”.
-El daño en las aspas inductoras puede ser consecuencia del roce con la carcasa.
-Manchas debido a la oxidación.
-Pérdida parcial de las aspas.
-Explosión de la rueda.
Explicación del efecto “piel de naranja”:
El efecto “piel de naranja” en la superficie trasera de la rueda compresora se crea por la expansión y la contracción. Cuando la rueda compresora excede de velocidad aumenta de tamaño. Esta expansión crea unas fisuras entre los bordes de las fibras del material, que en los casos leves regresa a su estado original (igual que un elástico), pero en la mayoría de los casos estas fisuras crecen y, al final, una parte del eje se puede romper.
Con frecuencia se pasa por alto el exceso de velocidad como la causa del fallo del turbo, ya que se pueden dar síntomas de otros fallos como resultado de este exceso de velocidad. La transferencia de material y la decoloración de algunas partes podrían indicar una falta de lubricación. Las marcas en algunas partes podrían sugerir la contaminación del aceite. Sin embargo, las partículas que las han creado se podrían haber
desprendido de los cojinetes como resultado del exceso de velocidad y el desequilibrio causado por esto.
Este desequilibrio también puede ocasionar roces en el compresor y en el eje de turbina de las carcasas, que a su vez puede hacer que el eje se parta y pierda parte de las aspas inductoras.
En definitiva, el exceso de velocidad causa muchos daños y a menudo es el principal tipo de fallo. Reconocer estas características al diagnosticar una devolución por garantía puede ahorrar tiempo y dinero.
